Find answers to frequently asked questions about Snaplock metal roofing panels, installation, performance, and maintenance.
Snaplock features an integrated nail strip design that eliminates the need for expensive clips and specialized tools. While traditional standing seam requires clips and seaming machines, Snaplock panels simply snap together and are secured through the nail strip, reducing installation time by up to 30% and lowering overall project costs.
Snaplock panels are available in three gauge options: 26 gauge (standard) for most residential applications, 24 gauge (premium) for enhanced durability and commercial use, and 22 gauge (heavy duty) for extreme weather conditions and maximum longevity.
Snaplock panels are available in over 90+ colors across our Classic, Signature, Printed, and Tex series collections. This includes traditional colors like Barn Red and Forest Green, modern options like Charcoal Gray and Stone Gray, plus unique printed patterns and textured finishes.
Snaplock panels require a minimum roof pitch of 3:12 (25%) or 14 degrees for proper water shedding and warranty compliance. This makes them suitable for most residential and commercial applications across Alberta.
No special tools are required for Snaplock installation. Standard roofing tools including a cordless drill, metal cutting shears, measuring tape, and chalk line are sufficient. The snap-together design eliminates the need for seaming machines or specialized clips.
Snaplock panels are specifically engineered for Western Canadian weather conditions. They feature a 110 mph wind rating when properly installed, excellent snow load capacity, and superior resistance to temperature cycling from -40°F to 150°F.
While Snaplock panels can support reasonable foot traffic during installation and maintenance, walking should be minimized and always done wearing soft-soled shoes. Walk on the flat areas of panels, never on the raised ribs. This is due to scratching or scuffing not affecting the panels' integrity.
Snaplock installation is typically 30-40% faster than traditional standing seam systems due to the elimination of clips and seaming requirements. A typical residential roof (2,000-3,000 sq ft) can often be completed in 1-2 days by an experienced crew.
Snaplock roofs require minimal maintenance. Annual inspections should check for debris accumulation in gutters, ensure proper drainage, and verify that all flashings remain secure. Occasionally rinse the roof with water to remove accumulated dirt and debris.
Snaplock panels come with comprehensive warranty coverage including material defects, paint system performance, and weather resistance. Specific warranty terms vary by gauge and finish, but typically include 40+ year material warranties and paint fade/chalk warranties.
